20 years after LA SEGUNDA, I am proud to present a most unexpected Argentine musical gem! "OTRA NOCHE" This third offering in the Sera una Noche series is slightly more Tango-centric than the previous two albums, but let's just see what one of MA's most cherished fans, Miguel Barrio has to say:

"I am a fan of Todd’s Sera Una Noche releases. Being Argentinian, I am a huge fan of Tango music as well. MA Recordings’ new release “Otra Noche” caught me off guard: I expected something along the same veins as the previous two great albums, but instead I found deep Tango performances of the utmost beauty, and recorded with what I would consider unparalleled skill. “Otra Noche” is an incredible album that will paralyze you in your seat for its full duration. A stunner!"

As with the previous two albums, OTRA NOCHE was recorded in a relatively small church in the Argentine countryside. Unfortunately, the church we originally utilized in 1998 and 2003 has since been thoroughly vandalized, to such an extent that even the power has been turned off!! Fortunately, Maestro Marcelo Moguilevsky (who plays all the reed instruments) was able to find the perfect venue for this new album. It is located in the small farming community of Antonio Marconi which is just under two hours outside of the Metropolis of Buenos Aires.

Here are Maestro Moguilevsky's introductory thoughts:

In dialogue and continuity with the MA Recordings’ project “SERA UNA NOCHE”, (originally conceived by composer and percussionist Santiago Vazquez) that began in 1998 and then continued with “LA SEGUNDA” in 2003, we humbly, yet proudly present “OTRA NOCHE.”

This project, like the others, is always inspired by traditional Argentine music, while including some original compositions. They are spontaneous expressions with an open concept that involves improvisation and collective creation, but also presents a perhaps broader vision, since it includes arrangements of a clear tribute to the traditional style of tango with versions of LA YUMBA and EL ANDARIEGO in a risky orchestral reduction; the chamber quartet. They are combined with much freer versions of the popular Argentine songbook, a few original songs, as well as three free improvisations.
