WOW!

What a treat it is for me to finally make something like this available to music loving audiophiles!

While DVD-Audio has been around for years, it was never economical for a little creative music label like MA to produce and hope to sell! Since 1992, while everyone else was still excited about recording at 44.1/20bit and maybe 44.1/24 bit, I began producing and engineering 96kHz High Resolution recordings, the first one being ?In the Midst of Winds? by guitarist/composer Dusan Bogdanovic. This was done on a prototype of Pioneer`s revolutionary D-07 96kHz DAT recorder and I was fortunate enough to have one of Pioneer`s engineers join me for the sessions which took place at the Harmony Hall in the mountains of Matsumoto Japan.

At some point after acquiring my own D-07A (the ?A? version having a multi-bit DA), I ended up getting one for George Cardas who was insanely jealous at the time. To be honest, George and I made a trade; he got a 96K DAT and I got a 10 meter pair of his amazing Golden Cross cables which I carried in my backpack to Spain, Portugal, France, Macedonia and all the way down to Argentina to record this first recording of Sera Una Noche. What I actually carried to Argentina was the MA custom modified version of this revolutionary machine, the mods being in the power supply, the inclusion of XLR analog inputs, the digital filtering, most of which was removed altogether and the input gain attenuator.

The results on Sera Una Noche are pretty fantastic, both sonically and musically! One of the things that I think made the recording sound as good as it does is the fact that the recording venue, Monasterio Gandara, is in the middle of nowhere and there is very little chance of noise from RF or external AC influences. To even more benefit is the fact that the AC power is 220Hz.

The 96kHz files have not been subjected to any audio processing whatsoever, Only the fades in and out of individual tracks were facilitated with Korg AudioGate software which is bundled with their MR-1, MR-1000 and MR-2000 recorders.

As an extra bonus, I have included four SACD quality 2.8 MHz files (converted from the 96kHz files) which can be played back from the AUDIO folder of the above mentioned Korg recorders, as well as burned to ?DSD-discs?, playable on Sony PS3 machines (with firmware 1.60 and above), all Sony VAIO computers made after late 2005, and a few other select machines on the market, including the Sony SCD-XA5400ES SACD player. Enjoy!
